Why does my lighter not work

Check the fuel level. If the lighter is out of fuel, throw it away. Disposable lighters are not meant to be refilled. You should be able to get up to 3, lights from a full-sized Bic lighter. If the flint wheel is stuck, your flint is most likely used up, and the wheel is striking the follower, causing a jam. A gas stove will, of course, work, as will a gas barbecue. First off, do you have the instruction booklet that comes with most torch lighters? If so, check it out and see what troubleshooting steps your particular lighter has. More commonly, the igniter end might be dirty. I use a can of compressed air to blow over and clean the end of the igniter when I have a torch lighter not working properly.
