Dallas Cowboy Fan ricer! This is not the only car painted in this scheme as it's very popular in Texas. Still, HP or more is plenty fast so it's a serious player. The car has what looks to be matching seats in it, as well as a matching hood scoop.
The rear wing is the usual ricer affair. Any Porsche is fast. This one appears to be a turbo, with the only thing slowing it down is the extra drag caused by the additional bodywork. It's kind of ugly compared to a production Carerra, but the owner obviously likes it. The matching wheels look good. If this is a 46g3t turbo motor car then you know it's quick. The carbon fiber hood definitely shaved 10 lbs from the weight of the car, whereas the bodywork put 20 lbs on it.
The seats have been upgraded and have proper double clamping race belts on them and the doors now are scissor opening. This early 4g63t Talon has had its roof cut off and is classified in two other write-ups as a ricer. It's also a "Chulo" car as well. Well done, as it can win awards in both contests. We do like the wheels and hope they don't hit the wheel wells. Might as well change the wheels, as this model was known for rims that would come out of dimension.
We wonder what the driver does when it rains. There was no turbo option for the Z, so the car is rated just below HP depending on the year. This car doubles both as a ricer and a Pin-on car but the owner must like it. The car is fast, but we are sure none of the installed doodads add any power or increase the handling.
We do know it's easier to park in the city because the owner added cat's whisker curb feelers to both sides of the car. Another car painted by a Cowboys fan! This color scheme is so popular in Texas.
The double hood scoop is definitely about ricing-out a car. Faux Shelby GT rear window scoops match the hood scoops so the car is consistent. The rear wing is typical fare for this type of car. The scalloped reliefs in all the min-scoops are theme similar to tennis shoe striping. These cars were very fast and were among the era when Maserati upped their game to horsepower equal to other Italian exotics starting at HP.
Of course, premium brakes and the best parts were already stock when the car came from the factory. This hurts the eyes, we aren't going to lie to you. These cars have little in the way of performance, but result from people who have the same ricer goals, but actually have gained enough money to fund their enterprise properly. These cars have: tacky but expensive body kits, expensive sound systems, neon underglow, nice interior, expensive but in bad taste paint jobs, and other expensive useless parts.
Hopefully, in fully explaining the ricer condition, I showed you all why I just dislike these people and their cars. Many ricers, especially the ones who try to race people or claim they have beaten real sports cars, are just the worst.
Showing your love cars with a tight budget does not mean you have to be a ricer and showing your pride is quite appropriate if done tastefully.
Not telling you to hate its just that too many ricers are not car lovers; they just want to show off and to feel fast…….. And on that bombshell, Goodnight! Examining Ricers and their Cars, and the "Ricer Spectrum". Level 1: Innocense. Faster than a Chiron, with four seats 4 b! Level 4? I think this is an MR-2? A friend of mine since H. Ironically he also owns a Firebird that is scary fast for a street car. Anyway he calls me up to tell me his subaru club is going to Westhampton this is back before the snows in early november drag strip and if i would like to come.
The goat at this point hadn't run in about a month, but I started it up, set the timing, threw a spare in the trunk and drove to the track. Ran my first pass in the car and it was 15 flat. Reset the timing and get out there, and i am running about My friend who invited me has a brother with a civic and eventually he starts talking smack about how he has cams and nitrous and his 14 seconds is really good. Of course i say something like 14 seconds is slow and before i know it he and I are staging heads up it was a test and tune day so they let us run side by side.
Anyway, light drops i get on it and the Goat lets loose a carb backfire that makes my hood jump and takes off on its way to a The civic runs I get back to the pits and pull the air cleaner and i find that the secondary butterflies have been wedged past the stops and would not open.
I ran the whole day on basically a 2 barrel carb that probably has more varnish in it than i can imagine fuel stabilizer The whole rest of the day anytime i would run against a ricer, whether they ran faster or slower they would throw on their hazards after the finish line in street racing this is how the people at the finish line know who won.
After a buddy of mine got into it with a kid in a nissan about this practice I decided to call it a day. Ricers are ruining this sport. I will say this though the subaru guys were real cool to me all day, let me use tools when i needed it, helped out when needed, they rocked, and their cars were fast.
The conducted themselves like pros the who day, and it was one of the subaru guys who stuck up for me to that nissan owner. The rest of the imports there were all full of crap. Geeto 67 , Jan 29,
